We have started our unit on ECOSYSTEMS! Last week we planted some seeds and the plants are beginning to sprout. It is fun to see the excitement each day as they watch their plants grow. We are learning how different organisms depend on each other to survive. Students used their creativity to design a "Critter" of their own. They had to show adaptations for this animal and back the changes with reasons as to why they look the way they do. I am very impressed with their creativity!!!
We had a great time at the Clark Planetarium. Students were excited to review the planets and solar system with hands on experiences.
We are wrapping up our Water Cycle Unit within the next few days. The students have done several projects showing how water is cycled through the Earth's land and atmosphere. Our next unit will be on Air Masses and pressure.
We are studying the 5 major religions in the world. The students seem fascinated with the different traditions and beliefs from around the world.
We are learning about the water cycle for our next unit. Students are working on their projects in the class. These projects will not be due until AFTER the break. This is NOT homework for the break, they will have time to finish them in class
We are wrapping up our unit on Conductors and Insulators. Student will be designing an object that will heat or cool something and making a poster to convince the public to buy. (No money will be involved :) We have quite the imaginative group! I wish some of these inventions would really come to pass---the perfect pizza box or the Cool mattress just to name a few. This will all be done in class.
Ask your student to tell you about his/her invention.
We have begun our next unit on Molecules, Atoms and Energy. Students will be learning how energy is transferred from one object to another. Ask them about Kenetic and Potential energy---they will impress you!
In Social Studies we are studying the ancient Egyptian civilization. We will be creating different objects from that time as well as studying life in this ancient part of our world. Any items such as old news papers, string or elmers glue would be appreciated. All projects will be done during class period so this will not be a homework assignment.
We are finishing up our Mesopotamia Unit and will be moving into the exciting Egyptian unit after fall break. We will explore this fascinating civilization and doing some great hands on activities!
Early out---Wed. Oct. 17th (End of term)
Fall Break---Oct. 18th and 19th
