We are starting a new quarter. Everyone starts fresh. What does that mean?
Well, each of your kids will be starting science in a new classroom. Miss Lowe's class will be working with me in my classroom on astronomy. My students will be working with Ms. Elliott on ecology, and Ms. Elliott's class will be with Miss Lowe learning weather and climate.
The next big change is that we are moving on to Greece in Social Studies. We will be working on several projects over the next two weeks. The first is the Festival of Dionysus. The kids will be working on writing a tragedy skit based on the Odyssey by Homer. They will create a set, costumes and masks and perform their skits for other students. They will write a 1 page paper about the festival of Dionysus and how the ancient Greeks lived, turned in on Google Docs.
The next project is that we will be making a kylix(an ancient ceremonial goblet). This will require each student to bring an empty 2 liter bottle by next week.
Last we will be making an art piece to replicate the ancient pottery of Greece.
In science we will be starting a new project from the website www.zooniverse.com. This will be an actual research project that the students will be helping astronomers study different astronomical bodies.
This quarter is going to be great!
